Dan Mumm’s 2017 album “Hortulus Melicus” is an interesting departure from his previous work. Loosely inspired by J.J. Walther’s 1688 “Hortulus Chelicus,” Melicus is a series of musical studies. With the exception of the first track “Lo,” each song is made up of only a single chord progression that is fleshed out through variations to make up each part. You likely wouldn’t notice this when listening to the album the first time. “Hortulus Melicus” takes influence from Baroque through Romantic Classical music, various Metal styles, synth and electronic styles.
“Hortulus Melicus” is available on Spotify, iTunes and most other digital retailers. This album is also available for instant download in MP3 format here and with complete lead guitar tabs and backing tracks here
